Goal Three: Launch The Professional Multi Media Production Center
Goal Three: Launch The Professional Multi Media Production Center
Youth Radio’s unique programs have traditionally prepared young people to generate award-winning radio content. The Multi Media Production Center will position Youth Radio to dramatically expand our capacity to expose young people to hands-on work producing and distributing converged media content for local, national and international markets.
The goals of the Professional Multi Media Production Center are to:
- Create a multi media network to deliver advanced production training to young people in our converged media newsroom; voice, video and music studios; eight edit booths; web office; and central control room wired for existing and new media technologies.
- Develop a new series of workforce training programs to support content development, production and distribution activities. To accomplish this goal, Youth Radio will bring together existing and new partners to teach students to create content for new media platforms.
- Train young people with advanced tools to become influential media producers, poised to convert content, distribution strategies and technological know-how into living wage jobs and meaningful and marketable products.
- Expand the production and distribution capacities of our bureaus in Los Angeles, Washington, DC and Atlanta.
- Launch a youth media network with current and new national partners to bring together and broaden youth content distribution channels and outlets.
- Increase the capacity for diverse, low-income young people of color to produce and broadcast commentaries with local, national and international radio stations and networks.
- Broaden the scope of converged media content produced by young people working in our health, science and technology, environmental and science, art, political and news and international desks.
- Develop feasible earned income opportunities to diversify our operating budget, such as selling youth content through partnerships with multi media and Internet companies or through advertising and underwriting campaigns.
