Foxx, Cruise Hit Theaters
"If you love action, you will love this movie, because Collateral will keep you on the edge of your seat."

In Michael Mann’s latest film Collateral, Tom Cruise and Jamie Foxx team up for an outstanding and unpredictable action-thriller. Tom Cruise plays a seasoned professional killer who has never failed to make a hit. Jamie Foxx’s role is that of an everyday, ordinary guy trying to make the best out of life.
Max (Foxx) is a cab driver with big dreams of owning a limo business. But instead of moving closer to achieving his dreams, he is moving closer to his thirteenth year of taxi driving. Through his rearview mirror, he sees many faces come and go, and meets all different kinds of people. But once he meets Vincent (Cruise), his whole life changes. Vincent first appears as a nice businessman on his way to meet a client at a restaurant. Then Max finds out that Vincent is more than just a businessman-- he is a cold-hearted contract killer intensely focused on completing his job.
Vincent takes Max hostage, commanding him to drive around Los Angeles while he bumps off those on his hit list. Max is passive and submissive throughout the ordeal; Vincent is short tempered and aggressive. The two are entirely opposite, but the icy Vincent warms up to Max and keeps him alive when the two are forced to rely on each other to get through the night and survive to see the next day.
If you love action, you will love this movie, because Collateral will keep you on the edge of your seat. Expect to see flying cars, dead bodies, and Tom Cruise doing his thing with guns. The action just keeps going and going and going.
Tom Cruise shows he’s a talented actor who can play anyone from a next-door neighbor to a police officer (Minority Report) to a villain. And, he can look good in any role. From Vanilla Sky to Mission Impossible 2, he has always looked decent, but amazingly, Tom Cruise made grey and white hair look hot in Collateral. As the hero character, Cruise always seems to win out in the end, but you’ll be surprised to see how the battle turns out with him as the bad guy.
As an actor, Jamie Foxx has a lot to offer. He has a Masters degree in music, and has been a top comedian for the past decade, but I personally feel that another person could have done better in the role of Max. Jamie Foxx should just stick to what he is good at- being a comic. I don't know if I’m just used to seeing him in a comic role, or if it was just weird seeing him in a more serious role, but I thought someone could have definitely played the part better.
Overall, this film has to be the best movie I have seen this year, minus the few setbacks I mentioned. I have to tip my hat off to director Michael Mann—Collateral is well worth seeing.
