Mismatching is the New Matching

"Color Coordination Disaffective Disorder is infecting thousands of teens."

By King Anyi Howell

Listen to this Commentary!

Youth Radio's King Anyi Howell talks about a new fashon trend that is becoming more and more popular for teens.

Here in Oakland California, mismatching is the new matching. I’m King Anyi Howell with a commentary from Youth Radio. Color Coordination Disaffective Disorder is infecting thousands of teens. Not since the 90’s and the Cross Colors brand has random ‘colorage’ been acceptable. The difference is, with Cross Colors, the color schemes were African and Jamaican influenced with red, black and green, or green, black, and yellow palettes.

Now there is no political rhyme or reason to the color selection of these outfits that shout out. Help!, A crayon box just threw up on me!

It’s not just the girls, though. Dudes are looking like they’re professional paintball players right after a match.

I told all of this to a youngster who then tried to defend his mismatched style BUT before he could finish his sentence I told him, “What?” “I can’t hear you. Your outfit is too loud!” For Youth Radio, I’m King Anyi Howell.
