Forage City App Launcher
Youth Radio is a youth-driven production company headquartered in state-of-the-art studios in downtown Oakland, CA. The organization is best known for its Peabody Award-winning stories for NPR, National Geographic, Yahoo, and other outlets, all produced by youth. Youth Radio’s newest venture is the Mobile Action Lab, a groundbreaking project backed by the MacArthur Foundation and NSF where young people partner with professional developers to create apps that inform, engage, and enliven communities.
We’re getting ready to launch Forage City, an app that allows users to share food bounties (backyard fruit, garden or farm overflow, restaurant overstock, food truck excess) with neighbors and non-profits. Help us to mobilize the citizens of leftover nation! The app’s been built, and we’ve gone through the first round of testing and user outreach. Our plan is to publish by early summer, leading with the Bay Area and scaling nationally from there.

If you know how to engage communities to use new tech products and are tuned into the Bay Area food scene, you are our ideal candidate! The Forage City App Launcher will collaborate with youth to:
• Coordinate final round user-testing
• Identify and cultivate partners in every user category (food “givers” and “getters”)
• Create agreements about partners’ roles for launch (this work is well underway)
• Co-produce marketing materials and promo video (we’ve got shooting/editing talent in-house)
• Develop and facilitate launch strategy (press releases, talking points, social media, event planning)
Requirements:
• BA in relevant field or equivalent experience

• Knowledge of and passion for the Bay Area food scene
