School Uniforms
"If everybody had on the same thing, then maybe, just maybe, SAT scores and CRCT scores would rise."
By Shauntavia Richardson
The way I dress shows off my personality. When I imagine myself in a uniform, I think, "Ha-ha, yeah right." Still, I recognize that there is a good side to wearing a school uniform.
People who can't afford to buy name brand clothing wouldn't have to feel left out, and there'd be no more picking at the kids who wear stuff from Wal-Mart. If everybody had on the same thing, then maybe, just maybe, SAT scores and CRCT scores would rise. Instead of kids coming to school to show off their new clothes, like they're in a fashion show, students would actually get an education.
Besides, you can still jazz up a uniform, if only a little bit. At my former school where uniforms were required, students had the opportunity to purchase matching head bands and bows to expand their style. After all, the person makes the clothes; the clothes don't make the person.
