"I shouldn't have to justify my goals to make other people
feel comfortable."

Unlike many of my fellow 12th graders, I'm not worried
about the SAT. The Air Force, not college, is my destination.
I'm a leader and have great potential. My skills in ROTC will give
me the extra push. I don't understand why people don't support me
when I say I want to join the military. The benefits are great and
I'll always have a job. When I tell my peers about my passion for
the military, they ask ridiculous questions like, "You're not
afraid you'll be sent to war?" or the one I hate the most-
"You're not afraid you'll die?" Just because a person
enters the military doesn't mean they're going to war. I shouldn't
have to justify my goals to make other people feel comfortable.
While I'm in the air chilling in my fighter jet, the way the economy
is looking, people with a college degree will be lucky to get a
job at McDonalds. You see more and more young people everyday with
degrees and they're right back at home with their parents. Their
degree doesn't mean a thing in the real world, when you have millions
of people who are already jobless. It's first come, first served.
I have a great opportunity to do something I love and still get
paid for it. I'll attend college eventually, but I'll do it for
myself, not because a bunch of people tell me I need too.
