College Requirements

"I really want to go to a highly respected university."

Listen to this Commentary!

By William Robertson

Many college requirements are extremely difficult to meet. To tell you the truth, I’ve messed up big time in my high school career. When I was a freshman I didn’t really think about going to college, but as I got older, that changed. Now I really want to go to a highly respected university.

Sometimes when the college application process became really stressful, I thought about what I would consider a perfect college. It would be a well-known college, respected for its academics and athletics. But the academic requirements would not be as strict as many colleges. As an applicant, you would not have to take the SATs or the ACT, but would have to graduate from high school. If your grades dropped senior year, you wouldn’t get accepted. Two things that would boost your chances would be a personal essay on your craziest moment in high school, and a personal survey about your character. These requirements would say much more about a person than SAT and ACT scores.
