Tainted Food

"Knowing this kind of information has made me cut back on unhealthy foods, but I haven't given them up altogether."

Listen to this Commentary!

By Milen Ghirmazghi

Everyone has heard of the rumors about fast-food restaurants and their unhealthy food. And it's not just the fat in the food. My school librarian told me about the about the huge chunks of meat from which some butchers remove cancerous grey cells. She also said that they give hormones to the animals, which is why pigs are so unnaturally huge these days, and why cows can produce a ton of milk. I think adding hormones to food affects not only the animal but also the human who eats it, which is how little girls unnaturally develop double-d breasts.

Knowing this kind of information has made me cut back on unhealthy foods, but I haven't given them up altogether. Maybe I can't resist the food, like the wonderful, hot fries, and the good chicken. Maybe the way it tastes is so fulfilling and doesn't cost very much. Or perhaps I'm just so used to it. I'm not saying to stop altogether, but just cut back some.
