Youth Radio is the nation's premiere youth media organization. Since 1992 Youth Radio has trained thousands of teenagers in broadcast journalism, engineering, web design, media literacy, and more. The broadcasts of our students have won numerous awards including the Peabody Award and two Edward R. Murrow Awards, as well as awards from American Women in Radio & Television and the National Association of Black Journalists. Youth Radio reporters are regular contributors to national outlets including National Public Radio, the Pacifica Network, and iTunes, and our programming now reaches an estimated audience of 27 million each year.

Youth Radio Board Advisor (Volunteer/Unpaid)

About the Position:
The Youth Radio Board Advisor supports the Board of Directors by representing youth perspectives that inform their governance and by identifying issues impacting young people that the board can help address. The Youth Radio Board Advisor is not a voting member of Youth Radio’s Board of Directors. This is a volunteer position (unpaid). Youth Radio seeks to fill four Youth Radio Board Advisor positions. The Youth Radio Board Advisor will serve a term of one year, meeting with the Board three to four times per year.

Business Development Manager

About the Position:
Youth Radio, a converged media production company, is looking to hire a highly experienced Business Development Manager with a deep rolodex of relationships in the news and digital media businesses. In coordination with senior production staff, the Business Development Manager will: prospect for and ink business relationships with advertisers, underwriters, and sponsorships for Youth Radio content; negotiate cross-platform sponsorships, CPM advertising, and affiliate revenue-sharing partnerships; supervise campaign delivery and ad network contracts. Candidates must have substantial experience with online business advertising and strategy, public and commercial broadcast outlets, web portals and newspapers, deal negotiations, and analysis.

IT Associate

About the Position:
The IT Associate is responsible for providing regular IT support to the organization. This includes, but is not limited to, repairing and maintaining computer hardware, software, and peripherals on staff, student, and studio computers.

Production Associate

About the Position:
The Production Associate is responsible for engineering, operation, and maintenance of Youth Radio’s production studios, edit booths, and production software. This includes, but is not limited to, recording audio and video content for Youth Radio’s content distribution business, providing editing support to producers, and managing Youth Radio’s content archive and equipment stock.
