Living With Big Boobs

"I’ve stopped trying to cover-up my body, It’s a curse and a gift, but for now, I’m content."

Listen to this Commentary!

By Ashley Jones

Having the body of a grown woman during your childhood years can make any girl feel uncomfortable with herself. Youth Radio's Ashley Jones discusses how she's finally coming to terms with her full-figured body.

Growing up, I was always the little girl who didn’t look so much like a little girl.

Since the fourth or fifth grade, I've had the body of a grown woman: hips, thighs, and especially breasts.

I started wearing really loose fitting shirts and small bras to minimize the appearance of my chest.

Then one summer I went on a family trip to one of the hottest places on Earth: Las Vegas. My mom packed my bags for me, she didn’t pack my puff coat, loose white tee-shirts, or peasant blouses.

The first couple of days I avoided leaving the hotel, but quickly had a change of heart when my family came back all smiles and laughter after a day at the amusement park. I realized I didn’t want to stay trapped inside for the whole vacation.

Now, I’ve stopped trying to cover-up my body. It’s a curse and a gift, but for now, I’m content.
