Name Brand Clothing

I look around my school and see many people wearing name brand T-shirts or hats. But when I go home and look in my closet, I notice I don’t have logos on any of my clothes. This puzzles me, because I don't have anything against name brands.
However, I'm not going to buy a 25-dollar T-shirt with someone's name on it, unless the T-shirt is decorated attractively, and just happens to have a brand name on it. I have many t-shirts, and I see no reason to buy another T-shirt unless I like the way it looks. The t-shirt’s name or logo alone just doesn't appeal to me.
Advertisers continue to try to figure out how to capture teens’ interest in their merchandise. For some, wearing name brand clothing is like a status symbol. It says, "I spend a lot of money on my clothes." Other teenagers wear these things because they couldn't afford them in the past and can now. Many of my friends like them and they say the quality is better in name brand clothing.
As for me, I’m not convinced by any of these arguments. The only name important to me is my own.
