Where do we start the story of how we express our love and gratitude for our mothers? They’ve given us love and support since the beginning of our birth. My mother was with me for 18 years when she was diagnosed with cancer in the spring of 2009. After her diagnoses she fought cancer for two months. It was disheartening to see the pain that my mom had to go through - to see her be like that; but out of that experience I just want to say, and my mom already knows this, “Ayor anosh'ni,” (Navajo for I love you). I will always love you mom no matter what, you know that in your heart. I’m sure it feels much better to hear it from me and have the actual words come from her son. It’s been a while since I wrote some poetry, but here goes. Take a listen. . .
