On Tuesday a transit worker and toll collector were shot and killed at the Richmond-San Rafael Bridge. Arrested earlier today was 46 year-old Nathan Burris. Burris was the boyfriend of 51 year-old Debbie Ross—the toll collector killed—also killed was 58 year old Ersie Everett. Burris was arrested in the Sierra Mountains after a statewide bulletin for his capture was issued.

Police do not have a motive as to why Everett was killed just yet but did acknowledge that Richmond police responded on Sunday to the home Burris and Ross shared to a domestic violence call. Neighbors interviewed by the ANG newspapers said that Burris was a “nice and cordial guy”, they also noted that the couple were facing economic and health problems as of late.

Domestic violence is hard to ignore, according to American Bar Association, 1.3 million women are physically assaulted a year. That’s hard to fathom but the issue stands, we need to combat these issues and figure out ways to resolve these issues.
