There is little to no argument that on June 25, 2009 planet earth lost the greatest entertainer to ever live. Michael Jackson, as we all know, dedicated his childhood and every moment after it, to entertaining us. Not only that, the heartfelt work and money he put into helping those less fortunate far surpassed what most of us could even dream of doing. Yes, we also know the troubles he dealt with later on in life, but I feel that after someone passes, their life is for God to judge, and their living is to memorialize.
Bill O’Reilly, being the hateful, narcissistic, infamously entertaining, but outright disgusting, Fox News host that he is, could not handle the attention M.J. has received after his untimely death. He has made a conscious effort to slyly disrespect the man, and the fans that care so deeply for him. Although he avoids directly disrespecting Jackson, O’ Reilly’s personal dislike for the entertainer seemed to hang in the air like a dark cloud.
To assist his foxlike attack (no pun intended), O’Reilly brought along two of his goons (blond white women) to discuss the issues he had with Michael Jackson and the media coverage that the late great entertainer has been receiving. The grumpy old man couldn’t stand the fact that Jackson has affected so many people, and that millions of people around the world truly care and our mourning this one man. He admitted that the networks were covering his death for the ratings, but he didn’t admit what that meant. The ratings go up because people want to hear about it, they care. O’ Reilly very well knew how the conversation would play out with the blondes, and for the first time since Jackson passed away, I heard the entertainer be called a “freak” on national TV.
Not only that, Bill O’Reilly also questioned Michael Jackson’s status as a Black icon. His point was that because Michael Jackson is the father of white children, black people should not support him as much as they do. Bill, the misguided, undercover bigot we all know him to be, couldn’t fathom how black people could still love a human being who was born into their community, but has grown up to a live life beyond racial boundaries. This is America, asshole! We are a nation of progressing mixed people, and if, let’s say, someone’s brother, regardless of his race, adopted a child from Indonesia, it doesn’t mean that brother is a different person, or that his family wouldn’t love him and view him the same. That wouldn’t make sense -- but I mean I’m looking from an open mind, not a racist one.
I don’t want to get into the pedophile controversy, but anyone can watch how Bill O’Reilly originally states that the issue shouldn’t be brought up for the obvious fact that Jackson was acquitted of all related charges. Then, in another show (the video below) he goes on to make the pedophile issue one of his main points. I smell hypocrisy.
Bill O’Reilly is mad that his own death would probably pass by with many cheers, and maybe a couple tears, but nothing even remotely close to what Michael Jackson received. Hate is remembered as hate. And love is remembered as love: try showing some.
