According to the Oakland tribune, an eleven year old boy is in critical condition after being shot in the face near Lake Merritt on the night of august seventh 2009. A group of young boys found a twenty gauge shotgun in the garage of a random citizen. One of the boys assuming the gun wasn’t loaded pulled the trigger at least once.

The boys then decided to hand the gun to the ten year old boy, who cocked the hammer before pulling the trigger. A blast from the gun went off and struck an eleven year old boy standing nearby on the left side of his face. The younger boy ran to the victim’s apartment to alarm his parents. The parents of the victim found their son in the backyard bleeding and crying out in pain. The victim has had surgery at least twice. The owner of the gun should have had that gun protected, in a safe place. The kids shouldn’t have been snooping yet the gun shouldn’t have been there in the first place.
