(download mp3)According to the associate press, earlier this week 18 year old brain Skully and three other Caucasian teens were sentenced to three years probation for the 2008 beating death of a Mexican immigrant in eastern Pennsylvania.
Prosecutors called it a hate crime. Skully will serve 3 years probation and house arrest. He must also perform community service. Two of the boys also involved in the crime got cleared of all serious charges, while the other pleads guilty to federal charges. It’s wrong to beat someone because of their race and ethnic background. They committed a hate crime and murder but didn’t get charged with the harsher sentence they deserved.
If a group of African Americans committed a crime like this they probably would’ve got a harsher sentence. It’s wrong to sentence someone for a crime based on their race, heritage, cultural background, or anything else. They should have been charged fairly. Murder is murder.
