The AMC original series, Breaking Bad, recently won two Emmys during the September 20th presentation of the 2009 Emmy Awards – Best Actor in a drama series and another for Best Picture Editing for a drama series.
Set and produced in Albuquerque, New Mexico, Breaking Bad revolves around Walter White (Bryan Cranston), a struggling high school chemistry teacher who is diagnosed with terminal lung cancer. After his diagnosis White breaks down and turns to a life of crime and starts producing and selling methamphetamine with his former student Jesse Pinkman (Aaron Paul) in a desire to secure his family's financial future.
While brilliantly written and produced, Breaking Bad simultaneously constructs a deep social commentary (among many) regarding the expansive methamphetamine scene in New Mexico as well as the lager growing methamphetamine scene in the United States.
The third season of Breaking Bad is tentatively scheduled to air March, 2010 on AMC.
