Ever since the feud between rappers Tupac Shakur and Christopher “Notorious B.I.G.” Wallace ended in violence, media feuds, or “Beef” have been more and more visible in more places and used as promotional tools. Daily Show host, John Stewart and “Mad Money” host, Jim Cramer had been feuding in the media for days leading up to Cramer’s appearance on Stewart’s show. The buzz on the appearance was talked about on every social network, and Stewart’s relentless ridicule of Cramer and CNBC is still buzzing on the net.

 

Not to be outdone by media anchors, rapper 50 Cent is going full throttle in his diabolical plot to ruin Roick Ross’ career as a rapper. First he released a mixtape, typical. But then he started releasing internet videos, taking the mother of Ross’ child on a shopping spree dissing the rapper.

 

Then 50 released cartoons depicting the rapper as an officer, based on reports Rick Ross used to be a correctional officer in a maximum security institution. Ross has responded with his own cartoon and songs, but recently 50 Cents efforts had been turned up several notches. He’s publishing a book authored by the mother of Rick Ross’ children, slamming the rapper. He will also commentate on an adult tape of Ross’ other child’s mother. This could get ugly! Both rappers have albums due out in the 3rd quarter

Beef can introduce two types of celebrities to whole new demographics. Case in point: rapper Noreaga and celebrity blogger, Perez Hilton. The two had been talking trash to each other over social network, Twitter. It’s not really important what they’re fighting over, but what’s important is that people I know that don’t know of Noreaga are asking “Who’s this rapper Noreaga?” and people I know are asking “Who is Perez Hilton?” For this Beef however, things are staying rude, non threatening and comical.

Let’s hope it stays this way for all beefs, because we don’t need mad cow.
