I'm only in my first semester of college, but I've already become the stereotypical "broke student". Just about every time I go out, some cute shoes or cool gadget is just sitting there tempting me. I must admit that I've given in more than once, and I don’t even want to talk about how much my friends and I spent within the first months of college.
Now there’s a brand new Facebook Application to help everyone think about those little splurges, right in time for the holiday season. Youth Radio’s first application, “Stop Me From Shopping” helps you reconsider some of those last minute purchases and temptations.
Start with the Temptation Converter. Simply type in what is tempting you, the price, select a category and even upload a picture. Then click “Convert my Temptation” and it will tell you another more responsible way to spend your money, as well as some fun money facts and tips. For example, instead of buying the New iPod Touch for $200, you can pay for weeks of gas, or months worth of public transit.
Here’s the fun part -- get your friends to “Stop You From Shopping” by posting your temptation and image on the wall. Let their comments help you decide if what you want is really what you need.
I love the fact that you can upload a picture of your temptation. All you have to do is put a picture of your temptation in a album, and you can access it from the application. You can use personal pictures you take or pictures grabbed from another site. This way you can show your friends how cute something is, instead of having to justify it to them. This will be so helpful for all that online shopping, where you can quickly forget how many times you click “Add to my cart”. In this economy we can all use a little extra help to keep our budgets in check. Trust me, I'll be using this app more than Farmville this Holiday season.
Youth Radio's "Stop Me From Shopping" Facebook Application will be launching by mid- December, so don't forget to search it on Facebook and add and bookmark it.

That's great
