[Part of our LGBT feature spotlight.]

After two tours in Iraq, 28 year old Anthony Woods decided he couldn’t lie any longer. He came out as gay, and was discharged under the military’s Don’t Ask Don’t Tell policy.

Denied by DADT of the chance to return to his alma mater West Point as an economics professor, Woods- who was born on Travis Air Force base in Fairfield, CA- sought another way to serve his country. When Congresswoman Ellen Tauscher was tapped for the State Department he saw his opportunity.

In this interview we talk to Mr. Woods about DADT, his decision to run for Congress, and what he plans to do if he manages to win the hotly contested seat.
