Obama Facebook Poll: What Does It Really Reveal?

A controversial poll that asked voters whether they thought President Obama should be killed has been taken down on Facebook. Answer options on the poll included “yes,” “maybe,” “if he cuts my health care,” and “no.” Over 700 people responded to the poll before it was suspended, and results were not made public.

This existence of the poll prompted a U.S. Secret Service investigation, the AP reports. It turns out that the poll was created by an independent Facebook user who made the poll using an add-on application. Facebook became aware of the poll on Saturday and immediately took it down. The online social networking site is currently cooperating with the Secret Service investigation.

So what do such polls reveal? Well, the person who created this poll probably did this just for the sake of garnering attention while the other possibility could merely be his/her animosity against the president – who knows. On the other hand, what about the people who actually takes the time to do this idiotic poll? What does it reveal about them? I guess the point I’m trying to make is the internet has a weird way of revealing the truth about people. And isn't it better to know what people are thinking- even when it's pretty dark stuff- than not know?

The president is a poor excuse for a leader. If anything he is trying to assassinate the United States. Hopefully if the United States is still functioning in 3 years we will have a new president that will get this country back as a respected world leader.

the biggest human problem from the internet is that it is teaching us all to be more reactive rather than thoughtful. Live your emotional self - don't stop and think. Don't ask thoughtful questions. Don't work to analyze the situation. Just react. And we're being encouraged to do that right now - just by this little comment box being here. We get to weigh in with our opinion before we know the facts. Maybe it was posted by a kid who thought he was being funny, or as a way to point out the stupidity of online polls, or who wanted to see how far you can stretch first amendment rights, or someone wanting attention or perhaps it was posted by someone who was intent on harm -- but we don't know. More and more we need to stop and think before we react.

i think if he don't show his eal birthcerticifict he should be put out of office and sent back to the muslems he loves so well.and it should be done right away like tomorrow.jaunted

It's just an opinion. Everyone has one. Doesn't mean anyone was going out and do anything. People take life too seriously.

When Obama won the presidency, the right wing nuts were left shocked and paralized by the unthinkable. For a while we didn't hear coherent words from them. They finally woke up from their stun and here they are, nuttier than ever. As their crazy and dangerous behaviour escalated to the "You lie" point, it was our turn to be shocked and paralized by the unthinkable. But at least for me, a poll in FACEBOOK ASKING IF A OUR PRESIDENT SHOULD BE KILLED OR NOT, was the last drop. I'm not interesting in leading a movement against Facebook, but... you do what you have to do. I'm just saying we have to stop the right fringe extremism NOW, because it' becoming fast a matter of life and death. I can't do anything against the anonymous creator of that poll. He embraced his dark side, so I trust the dark side will embrace him back soon. Most probably in the poetic (justice) form of a large, lonely and horny as hell cell companion. But I can close my account with Facebook, and I did. I don't care about their "third-parties add-on applications" nerdy excuses.The Facebook social network must be held responsable, the same way a TV network will if they cross a similar line. You can shut your Facebook account only A WEEK or a DAY, and that act will be louder and more powerful than the recent "million moron" march to the Capitol. Take a stand.
