Wednesday evening in Downtown Oakland saw the first community rally since the arrest of former BART police officer Johanes Merhsle on suspicion of the murder of 22-year old Oscar Grant. Grant’s family members, students, local artists, business owners, and community organizers came out to voice their frustrations and support.

In the midst of the tightly organized demonstration, Youth Radio reporters Kareem Chadly and Denise Tejada spoke with legendary rapper Too Short about Oakland residents coming together to stand by their city, and Mayor Ron Dellums about his role in the aftermath of the shooting.

What are you going to do?

Mayor Ron Dellums What are you going to do about this?

That officer was wrong

How are you just going to shoot someone and you have them in handcuffs? That just don't make sense, as a matter of fact it was senseless. It didn't have to go down the way it did

This Man is Right

You often hear a lot of people saying one thing or the other and don't really make any sense but what you've just seen shows how much sense this man makes and he has a very reasonable point!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
