Think back to the Myspace era when you had those “this page is down for routine maintenance” messages and all the spam. I was one of hundreds of people who can remember clicking a Myspace link that sent us to a page saying we were accidentally logged out and needed to log back in. After entering out information it would spam all of our friend’s comments and inboxes, until we changed our passwords. With good comes the bad I guess, because now Facebook has a similar virus slowly going around. It's kind of ironic that it preys on the fact Facebook has so many security settings, by sending an email that says:
Hey [user's name],Because of the measures taken to provide safety to our clients, your password has been changed. You can find your new password in attached document. Thanks,
The Facebook Team.( Via CNN)
Facebook just wants you to know this is fake, and wouldn’t send an attachment. What makes this worse than Myspace spam is that when you open that attachment the worm crawls through your computer collecting all of your password account information for any website. I’m always on Facebook. I log in several times a day and even check it on my cellphone and I cannot afford these slip ups and these viruses growing and growing. That is supposed to be the beauty of Facebook - you are secure - so I hope I don’t get this email and if you do- don't click the attachment.
