Did G-Dragon Rip Off Flo Rida?

G-Dragon is a member of Big Bang, a Korean Music Group, and is set to release his first solo album on his 21st birthday: August 18th. G-Dragon has been releasing previews from his album on Me2Day, a Korean version of Twitter. A recent song "Heartbreaker" was released and many people are saying it resembles Flo Rida's "Right Round" and that G-Dragon copied it.

Artists are always sampling music from other artists. Just like Flo Rida sampled from Dead or Alive's 1984 single "You Spin Me Round (Like a Record)" for "Right Round".

G-Dragon's company, YG Entertainment stated that "Now we only revealed just 30 seconds to the song, it is ridiculous to call it plagiarism. ‘Heartbreaker’ did not plagiarize other’s music. Please look forward to the full song."

Lets not hurt GD and Flo Rida

G-Dragon did not plagerize, and him and Flo Rida are going to collab on another song featuring Flo Rida's rap. Actually, i am a big fan of both GD and Flo Rida's songs and them, but I do not like how people are saying asians are copying off him, no flo rida's music sucks. I hate how this whole plagerizing thing is becoming the issue of the Korean cyberspace people and the American cyberspace people. Please please please do not say bad words about our singers; they are both great and talented singers .

Very Funny.

G-Dragon didn't even copy at all. Even if it was , music is just to enjoy .. Chill ppl. >_> Let Flo Rida decide if its plagerism or not ..

hes not a freak

hes not a freak

bullsh...t

u guys are freakin stupid.. dont be racist. u feel everything asians do copy off of u guys.. puhh leeaasee.. ur not dat great.. most of ur songs sound almost the same.. tskk.. im freeakin pissed.. sori if i sound racist to u guys but im freakin tired of people dissin asians..

who CARES???

I dun give a damn about this As long as they are making good music and satisfy us, i dun mind Honestly i like both of them... Why dun they do a collab to clear those nonsenes?

Calm down...

...people... but I understand why they say things like that...they're haters...

flo rida is a rip off

how can you argue that anyone ripped flo rida off... 80% of his songs are rip offs over other songs because he cant make his own music... right round, sugar, move shake and drop... hes the most unoriginal artist ever

flo rida is a rip off

i am so glad that u share my opinion! indeed, when i first heard florida's songs i was surprised to guess that there are all remakes : Dead or Alive - You Spin Me Round and O-Zone - Dragostea Din Tei. I didn't care because american people would discover new sounds. But when i heard about this story against g-dragon, i was really disappointed and a bit furious. He is none even in the same country, it's not the same market. where is the problem ? when Dragostea Din Tei was released in europe i think we had 4 versions and no one cares. (sorry 4 my english, i am french)

Many sample, some don't deserve it

It is clearly a sample and some may argue a COPY of Flo Rida's Right Round. The only difference is the person singing it; a white-haired freak that calls himself G-Dragon, a name I would have given my character in the Nintendo game Contra when I was 6.

wtf

ur an idiot. he calls himself g-dragon because translated in english thats his real name. Kwon Ji Young. G is for Ji and Young means dragon, dont say dumb ish when u dont kno what ur talkin about

rofll. yeah, true. but i

rofll. yeah, true. but i like g dragon. xDD its funny though, when i heard his name i was wtheck?

reason for his name...

its because his korean name is "ji yong" the korean character "yong" means dragon and "ji" sounds like g hence g-dragon

Sad

It's only the begining that sounds like it!!!! How can they get mad when it was only 30 seconds of rap that resembled! Whenever I read about this I get angry and even more excited for my copy of the CD to get here. I have heard the song Heartbreaker so many times and I feel different each time I listen. I didn't even think of Flo Rida's right round until someone TOLD me. Please forgive GDragon if he copied. Everyone does. Seriously, I bet in the future every single song will have been copied at least once.

Ridiculous

I have to admit to hearing vague similarities upon the first listen of G-Dragon's Heartbreaker. However, the more I hear it, the more obvious it becomes how completely different this song is. The rap itself is much more melodic than Flo Rida's, especially towards the end of each phrase. I've also heard people say that it's the beat, not the rap, which seems to be taken directly from Right Round. Please.... Just because they both accent a hit on the upbeat instead of the downbeat? I think all these accusations are ridiculous, and I hope that at least some good will come of this. More hype for G-Dragon's album, that's for sure. :)
