Talking About That Time of the Month

U by Kotex conducted a study with girls all over North America and found that more than half of women feel that society looks down when talking about vaginal health. The study also points out that women claim to be knowledgeable about vaginal health issues, but nearly 1 in 3 women don't know that a woman can get pregnant if she has sex during her period. Women also expressed they wish they could talk to their boyfriend, husband, or significant other about vaginal health. The most surprising finding was girls relying on the media over a teacher or school nurse for vaginal health information.

Discussing these topics is not an exciting conversation but based on these findings it's obvious women need to start talking more. Discussing a women’s health has always been hard without people judging. I took two sex-ed classes in high school and people would laugh when they heard “vagina” and even ask the teacher to skip the lecture on a women’s menstrual cycle because it was too nasty. People have been avoiding this discussion, so U by Kotex wants to break that cycle by created videos that will create a discussion on women’s health, like this one.

Men are definitely clueless when it comes to pads and tampons but it’s also disappointing to know women are also confused. Is this is right method to get people to discuss this topic?
