Former NFL coach, broadcaster, video game legend John Madden is calling it "retired." Madden's career lasted over 40 years from coaching, to being one of the most recognizable voices in football history. According to Yahoo News, Madden said that his 50th wedding anniversary is approaching and he wants to spend more time with his family. I grew up watching John Madden on television, and losing to my friends while playing the Madden NFL Football video game.

Street Fighter was never my forte, in fact I wasn’t really good in any game but Madden. Madden NFL Football was unlike any other football game produced, with Madden’s patented phrases like “Boom” and "Ow! That had to hurt." It made met as if I was still watching a game on television rather than playing it. To this day my friends and I continue to battle it out for the John Madden bragging rights.

It's almost unbelievable that he'll no longer be around during the football season. The last game Madden announced was the Pittsburgh Steelers triumphant win against the Arizona Cardinals in this year’s Super Bowl. A nice way to end your career, announcing the greatest game in football history.
