I’ve been off and on in my current relationship for a minute—and right now, we’re off.
Early in our relationship, my ex-boyfriend said, “I’m falling for you.” I was like, “Whoah, what?!” I wasn’t in love yet. That broke his heart. But as soon as I fell in love, he kinda fell out. “We just don’t click,” those were his breakup words.
Now, I’m having a hard time letting go. I talked to my granny about my heartbreak, and she told me what her mother used to say: “Don’t look back”; meaning if a man leaves you, let him go because it’ll never be the same.
She’s right, but I take breakups pretty hard. I start to believe I’ll never get over the person and will never find love again.
Sooner or later I gain confidence and start telling myself, “Rynesha you’re cute, and it’s his loss not yours, stop moping and go have fun.” But even that is not enough for my poor heart.
And this time around, breaking up was our answer, but love is still the problem.
