News Update: Mehserle to face murder charge. BART responds.

Former BART Police officer, Johannes Mehserle is expected to return to the Bay Area to face a murder charge. "I'd like to waive extradition," Mehserle told Judge Paul Gilbert in a Minden, Nevada. Alameda County District Attorney Tom Orloff confirmed that Mehserle had been charged with murder due to the incriminating videos taken of the shooting of 22-year-old Oscar Grant. Mehserle was arrested yesterday in Zephyr Cove area near Lake Tahoe, after an Alameda County judge issued  a murder warrant for him.   Read full story on SF Gate.

Breaking news: BART responds to Johannes Mehserle's murder charge

"This investigation shows that no one is above the law, but everyone is entitled to due process of the law. BART investigated this shooting thoroughly and treated the investigation and information no differently because the suspect involved was a police officer. Now we have to let due process take its course.”
