STANDARDS
Our Take on Content Standards
Standards are part of the national educational debate and will continue to play a crucial role in pedagogy. As of yet however, there are no real national standards and states have their own frameworks. In order to make Teach Youth Radio truly effective, we needed to find a way to build a bridge that could reach hard-working teachers in every state or school. We did a survey of state standards for grades 6-12 and found there are cornerstone themes and skills that cut across the country. Out of these we created a “synthesized standards” list for each content area that will hopefully allow teachers to easily recognize their specific needs and use Teach Youth Radio to help their students engage and excel!
