“THE Event” was a town hall on latino education that was very memorable! I really enjoyed how the event allowed students of every age to discuss some of the major issues facing the education system and to think of reasonable solutions for those problems. The Town Hall Event was actually made for students by students. UNM and various New Mexican high school students, including myself, facilitated “THE Event.” After facilitating, we even had the chance to gather the most popular comments students had voiced and presented them to all of the local organizations, community members, and legislators in attendance.
The interactions that occurred were definitely fun and inspiring because students got together with other students of different ages and shared their points of view on what’s lacking in the educational system. Doing so showed us that students are actually concerned about their education and some one should do something to fulfill all of these demands.
One of the factors I found very important was that many students showed up to the gathering. This was very impressive and essential in order for “THE Event” to be successful. “THE Event” wouldn’t have been the same without all of the support from the students. The participation of so many students made “THE Event” memorable and will be remembered by all the ones who attended it!
