Americans Shane Bauer, Sarah Shourd and Joshua Fattal are being detained by the Iranian government after apparently crossing the unmarked Iran-Iraq border in the Kurdistan region of Iraq. One of those detained- Shane Bauer- is a freelance journalist and photographer whose work has been used by Pacific News Service, the agency that runs our partner site in journalism: Youth Outlook.

This incident has an eerie similarity to the capture of journalists Laura Ling and Euna Lee by North Korea. (via CNN)
