Your Scary Is A Wonderland

Most people just donned 3D glasses to watch Tim Burton's "Alice in Wonderland." Youth Radio's resident PG movie arbiter activated her internal scare-ometer to judge the film's appropriateness for fellow eight-year-old cinephiles.

On how the film compared to previous (Disney) versions:

I just really liked it. It was a completely different version. It was more scary. There were, like, more parts where she almost died, but she was really brave when she was remembering what her dad said (about how Alice should pinch herself to wake up from her dream). She believed in her dad so much, she said "Ok, it's just a dream," and tried to pinch herself but she still wouldn't wake up. (Her Dad had told her that happens to) only people who are mad, or special, or something like that...but they're always really awesome.

What did you like about Alice? :

Something really funny about Alice is when she kept shrinkng and stuff, she would always have another pair of clothes under her...except for once when the Red Queen had to get her a new dress. Also that she actually thought she could go to China and she did.

Can you talk more about the scare factor? :

Well, when the dog (Bandersnatch) was chasing her and when she was trying to get the sword. There were other parts that could scare younger people but not me.

At school this one girl named Ana asked me, "Will my brother be able to see it?" And he's like, five, and I said "Well, I don't think my sister would (be able to), but I think he would." She said, "Well, he's a scaredy cat." I said, "Oh, really?"

He doesn't really act like it at school. I just think it's because Ana is his older sister and that's what older sisters sometimes do -- say that younger sisters and brothers are crybabies. I just really think (kids) should see it but it kind of depends how old they are.
