Outside the Pfenning Alumnus Center of Lafayette College in Easton, Pennsylvania, a number of students began to argue over politics. When I asked Marc Tancer about what it was like to support McCain when the youth vote seemed to be going heavily for Barack Obama, he responded by saying that it was better to have McCain than a single party government. When Haleigh Novick and Brad Hennessy disagreed, the three argued articulately and passionately over the issues. I was impressed. Their conversation shows the involvement of the youth on both sides. Tiye Kinlow, another Lafayette student, has been volunteering for Obama since she was in high school two years ago.

Inside, about 50 students were lined up to vote almost out the door. In more of my exit polling, Obama handily won college students, 7 to 2 over McCain.

Common concerns were: healthcare, taxes, jobs, and the environment. Education barely came up, probably because any policies of the candidates on that issue would not take effect until after these voters left college

This is Marc Tancer. I just wanted to say that I am very upset at myself for ever supporting John McCain. He is the definition of what is wrong with this country. "Compromising" and bi-partisanship almost always result in wars, a loss of individual liberties, and increased government spending. He cares nothing for the rule of law. He has gone against the people and the first amendment by supporting McCain-Feingold (campaign finance reform), he went against the people and the fourth amendment by supporting the Patriot Act, and he thinks its okay to be in Iraq for 100 years if necessary. So far, President Obama has done NO better on foreign policy than McCain would have done, nor has he done any better on privacy/civil liberties. He has done probably the same as McCain would have done on the economy, health care, etc. The "constitutional law" teacher/community organizer has failed us. But looking back on it, he had better rhetoric on foreign policy and the rule of law. Of course he hasn't changed a thing- as I was fooled, I cannot hold it against Obama supporters for being fooled. In that spirit, lets elect someone in 2012 who we KNOW is honest. Let's not get fooled again.
