Today is the Day

"Yes, I voted for President Bush and I support his politics, but the numbers do show who the winner is regardless of my political stance."

By DeSean Robinson-Walker

Today is the day. President George W. Bush will be sworn in for a second term as the nation's 43rd president. Half of the country is rejoicing, celebrating the victory of a great leader. But, the other half is still bitter about the November elections.

In my opinion, you can't be mad at George. He won fair and square. Now I'm not just saying that because I am a fellow Republican. Yes, I voted for President Bush and I support his politics, but the numbers do show who the winner is regardless of my political stance. And apparently, many people agree because he had approximately four million more votes than presidential candidate John Kerry. All you can do is be a good sport and deal with the man for another four years. But unfortunately, there are still some disgruntled Americans who haven't learned how to lose gracefully.

As you read this, there are many active protests going on around the nation, and for what? To protest against a man who's won fair and square, come on people! I guess the old saying is true, what goes around comes around. Now more than ever, I'm a believer in karma. Using President Bush as an example, people have been giving this President a hard time since 2000. But in every way, President Bush continues to overcome and end up on top.

So unlike the thousands of protesters who are marching the streets being sore losers, I'm sitting in my living room with a bottle of apple cider in hand and making a toast to another four more years. I may not agree with everything Bush does, like spending forty million dollars on an inauguration ceremony at the nation's expense, but I can't be mad because this will be his last four years, and he has to toast it up! Like Tu Pac said: Ain't nothin' like a Presidential party, party…
