Finding the Promised Land

"Yemen is safer than America is because of the fact that America has a higher crime rate than any other country."

By Abdullah Hussain

Some people say that America is the Promised Land and that it’s a free country, but is it really the Promised Land and the free country that it portrays? I don’t think so because if I were to compare America to Yemen, I would have to say that Yemen is the better country because when I went there, I felt as if I was in paradise.

People respected me for who I was. They joked around, they would party, and they have everything. In America, you can’t even drive if you don’t have a license or a permit, but over there it doesn’t matter how old you are, it just matters if you know how to drive.

Yemen is safer than America is because of the fact that America has a higher crime rate than any other country. If I had to compare how many laws there are in America compared to in Yemen, I would say that America is not really the “free country” it claims to be, but that Yemen is a more free country than America.

Then there are all the high prices in the U.S., what’s the deal with that? Why does gas cost like $2.99 per gallon? What happened to $1.29 per gallon? Everything in Yemen is cheaper. So basically, I believe that Yemen is a better place to be than America.
