Dieting for My Prom

"Even if I find myself looking at a piece of bread my mom has something to say."

Listen to this Commentary!

By Kacey Ward

I’ve never worried about my figure more than this year.

The senior ball is soon to come, and I’ve always imagined myself at prom with a coca cola bottle shape in a pretty dress, looking like a girl in a magazine. Everyone will remember how good I look stepping out of my white old school Rolls Royce. But my body is not in any type of shape for the perfect dress.

All the girls around school are already talking about getting fabric and getting fitted for their dresses. But I’m going to wait until just a month before prom to get measured for my dress, so I can lose as much weight as possible. I'm trying this diet that's supposed to make me lose inches and pounds.

Even if I find myself looking at a piece of bread, my mom has something to say. “You can’t eat bread, you’re cheating on your diet!”

I know I can’t change everything I want to about my body. I’m just going to do what I have to do to make me, Kacey, feel better.
