"So far, none of the major Democratic candidates have decided to participate. And on the Republican side, no one has agreed to the debate."

Youth Radio's Denise Tejada is an undecided voter. She looks to a network television channel called “Univision”’ to help her decide who get’s her vote. She says, “so far none of the major Democratic candidates have decided to participate."

Spanish language channel Univision—the fifth most popular TV network in the US--has invited all the presidential candidates to participate in a televised debate.

So far, none of the major Democratic candidates have decided to participate. And on the Republican side, no one has agreed to the debate.

Isn’t this the opportunity that most candidates dream of? As a member of the fastest growing ethnic group in the US—Latinos—this feels like a slap in the face. These politicians are turning down a chance to talk directly to a huge and influential population of swing voters, like me. I’m undecided, so I’m depending on the debate to figure out where candidates stand on the issues.

Of course Univision isn’t the only network out there, but it’s that one that speaks directly to the Hispanic community. So if a candidate isn’t willing to take the time to speak to my community then they can count on one less vote.
