Female President

"I think it’s time for a woman to run for the country’s highest office."

Listen to this Commentary!

By Kalid Mohammed

It’s about time America elects a female president.

I’m not saying that men don’t have the skills to be good presidents. But I think it’s time for a woman to run for the country’s highest office. I know some men think that being a president is a man’s job. Maybe that’s because we’re so used to having male presidents, we think we can’t trust a woman to handle the job.

I recently heard Hillary Clinton speak at a fundraiser. She was there talking about how we needed to get more people to vote. Her words were so uplifting, and the look in her eyes was so honest, you could say I was in love….with the idea of having her for president. Having a female president would be good because women are less aggressive - not all, but some. Maybe a woman president would calm down the violence in the world, including in Iraq.

Another reason I want a woman to be president is that they tend to not let their anger sway their decisions… they take time to think about it, and ask for advice from others, and I think that someone with those characteristics would make an ideal leader for our country.

We have had white, male presidents for over 200 years. It is time for SOMEONE to think about things differently and represent the ideas of the populations that often get overlooked.
