My First Vote

"There is no point in voting in this November’s presidential election."

Listen to this Commentary!

By William Robertson

I’m beginning to feel that there is no point in voting in this November’s presidential election.

The leading Democratic candidate, John Kerry, doesn’t really interest me, although Kerry sometimes talks about teen issues like drugs, abortion, jobs, and money for college, he doesn’t do it nearly enough.

I would never vote for President Bush because, if he is re-elected, I’m sure the unemployment rate will be higher and the president will continue to neglect education.

My teachers are always telling me that even if I don’t know who to vote for, I just need to go out and do it anyway because it is my constitutional right and my responsibility as a citizen.

Honestly, I don’t feel like taking advantage of it.
