Production Associate
Youth Radio's mission is to promote young people's intellectual, creative and professional growth through training and access to media and to produce the highest quality original media for local and national outlets
Through hands-on practice, working relationships with industry professionals, and production of award-winning programming, Youth Radio students learn the basics of broadcasting. In the process, they're exposed to a broad spectrum of media-related careers.
Youth Radio students also strengthen their foundation in basic "life-skills": verbal expression, writing, computer technology, critical thinking, conflict resolution, and more.
General Description:
The Production Associate is responsible for engineering, operation, and maintenance of Youth Radio’s production studios, edit booths, and production software. This includes, but is not limited to, recording audio and video content for Youth Radio’s content distribution business, providing editing support to producers, and managing Youth Radio’s content archive and equipment stock.
Responsibilities:
• First-responder to user support requests.
• Provide support for recording and editing of all video and audio content.
• Upgrade Youth Radio’s production software as needed.
• Manage maintenance, ordering, and repairs for Youth Radio’s video and audio equipment stock.
• Manage Youth Radio’s audio and video content archive.
• Work with students/interns to teach them best practices in studio engineering, as well as perform software upgrades as availability allows.
Work Experience Requirements:
• Experience in desktop and production applications such as Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite, Final Cut Pro; ProTools experience is essential.
• Familiar with Dell, Apple, and HP computer products and accessories.
• Studio production: can engineer sessions and maintain and run studios for audio and multi-media production. Well versed in media.
• Team player who assists employees and team members daily to solve problems beyond regular duties.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, and customer service skills; ability to prioritize tasks and perform duties to meet deadlines.
Education Requirements:
• Associate’s degree in technology-related field or equivalent work experience.
Position/Salary:
1.0 FTE (40hrs/week), salary commensurate with experience and skills.
