No Love

"Because just like Vegas, what happens in high school stays in high school."

Listento this Commentary!

By Bill Lewis Jr.

Millions of high school lovers would argue they know what love is. Youth Radio's Bill Lewis Jr. believes high school love is nothing but a waste of time. He say's, "Instead of romantic moonlit walks on the beach, young couples’ “quality time” is limited to an hour or two at the local pizzeria and long awkward pauses on the phone."

I just graduated from high school and as I look back, there’s one valuable lesson I learned a little too late. High school is no place for love.

In the past four years, I’ve had my heart broken again and again. One girl said she loved me but started seeing someone else and lied to me about it. Another toyed with my emotions, one day she loved me and the next I was just a friend.

Now I realize all those relationships were a waste of time because high school love is a ticking time bomb. Instead of romantic moonlit walks on the beach, young couples’ “quality time” is limited to an hour or two at the local pizzeria and long awkward pauses on the phone.

No matter what feelings of “love” sweethearts might think they’ve found, my suggestion is to put those matching tattoos on hold. Because just like Vegas, what happens in high school stays in high school.
