Age Ain't Nothing But A Number

"I know I’ll treat her 10 times better than they could."

Listen to this Commentary!

By Kalid Mohammed

What’s up with my heart? Why is it trippin’?

I like this girl at my school, but I don’t know if it’s love or not. When I talk to her I feel like I’m in heaven. If I have a bad day, her sweet hugs relax me. But I can’t just ask her to be my girl. You see, the problem is she’s two years older.

She might like older guys, but if she gives me a chance, I know I’ll treat her 10 times better than they could. Since she works on Saturdays, I’ll have fresh flowers waiting for her on the porch…if I can afford it. And when she needs a ride, I’ll get her an all-day transfer, so she doesn’t’ have to worry about bus fare. If she gets sick, I’ll make her some beef soup…the expensive kind, three ninety-nine.

For even though winning her over might be an uphill battle, I’m going to try anyway. Because like the song says, “age ain’t nothing but a number. It’s love that matters.”
