Jena Protests

Youth Radio’s Jiarra Jackson traveled to Jena, Louisiana to join more than 10,000 demonstrators protesting the treatment of the “Jena Six.” Critics say that the six black high school students charged with attempted murder have received unnecessarily harsh punishment for their roles in beating up a white student. The town has been gripped by a more than a year of racial tension sparked when three white students hung nooses from a lone tree in front of Jena High School. Jiarra Jackson reports from the ground in Jena describing the day’s events. Listen to this Interview!
