Animal Rights

"We say humans are the most intelligent creatures on earth- I think it's about time we act that way."

Listen to this Commentary!

By Stefan Gueler

I am not a vegetarian, but I think a big problem in the world today is the killing of too many animals. The animals are just as important as people and have feelings also. We humans are not the only living things on earth.

The balance of nature is in our control, so we need to be careful with the number of animals we kill. We could destroy ourselves if we disrupt nature too much. It's horrible that humans can kill an elephant to make money from only the tusks. I hate to think that the elephant might be a mother to a baby elephant. How would you like it if someone tried to shoot you while you are taking care of your baby?

We should help to protect more animals. I understand we need to raise some animals to eat, but others need to be guarded so they won't become extinct. We say humans are the most intelligent creatures on earth- I think it's about time we act that way.
