Youth Radio in My Life
"The thing about Youth Radio is that they are always there if you needed someone."
By Abdullah Hussain
Before deciding to join Youth Radio, life was hard for me because I would always go to the store and help my dad when he was working, even though sometimes I had other work to do. But ever since I joined Youth Radio, things have changed for me.
My dad gave me more time to myself, which allowed me to get more things done. Even outside of school, things got easier. It was as if I had gotten out of this big hole that I was in for a very long time.
The thing about Youth Radio is that they were always there if you needed someone. If you needed help with homework, they have these Americorps members who help you. Even though you have certain days in which you attend Youth Radio, they still allow you to hang around if you needed extra help with homework.
If you are bored, you are expected to look for something to do that has something to do with Youth Radio. This program has a variety of things to do, so it isn’t likely that you will get bored. The things they have are Reason, which you use to make beats. They have Pro-Tools, which is used to edit audio, and many more things. That’s why this is my favorite place to go to.
If you don’t try to join this program when you have the chance, then you’re missing out on some good opportunities. So I would just like to thank Dharini Rasiah for telling me about it and Gerald Ward, who you will know better as Whiz for accepting me into this program and let’s not forget the peer teachers and the students because they were the ones who made it fun for me! Thank you!!!
