MySpace vs. Facebook

"About two years ago, I found a place to let my alter ego run wild. That’s when I became a social networking junkie"

Youth Radio reporter Leon Sykes describes his life as social networking junkie and his use of myspace and facebook to express himself online. "They’re like the left and right side of my brain"

About two years ago, I found a place to let my alter ego run wild. That’s when I became a social networking junkie

MySpace gives me a chance to shine at all times—and I’ve always craved attention. Of course, I have plenty of friends on MySpace. But then there’s my other persona--“D.Nastee.” He’s everything I can’t be when I’m at home—totally un-PC, tells dirty jokes, and he’s rewarded for it. In just a couple months, I effortlessly went from 150 friends to over 700.

Facebook, however, is like an elite fraternity. Once I saw all my friends getting Facebook pages, I had to have one too. But since I wasn’t in college, I didn’t have access. Lucky for me though, eventually Facebook opened its site to everyone, allowing free reign to users from all walks of life.

For now, I’ll keep using both Facebook and MySpace. They’re like the left and right side of my brain. Without both, I’m Commandant Eric Lassard. And if you don’t get that, maybe you need to get on Facebook. LOL.
