Teen Pregnancy

"Everyday I see some girls pregnant or walking around with their babies."

Listen to this Commentary!

By Martisa Arias

Why do I always see kids in my neighborhood walking around with babies of their own?

I have a friend who’s only 16, and she decided to run away from home, move in with her boyfriend, and have a child. Now, her 15-year-old sister is pregnant as well. Why couldn’t the sister learn from my friend’s problem? My friend is struggling to take care of herself, and most importantly her baby. She has no time to do anything anymore. She can’t go out with her girls and just chill. She can’t go to parties or live the lifestyle she had before she was pregnant.

Everyday I see some girls pregnant or walking around with their babies. Yeah, at first they seem happy, because they have their so-called “baby daddy” next to them. Most of them are too young and the relationship with their baby’s father doesn’t last forever. Then they are on their own.

To have a child I think you need support from your family and friends no matter what age you are.
