Cat Talking Quickness

"This gift of quickness is a necessity for all girls."

Listen to this Commentary!

By Tadina Ross

My friends tell me I’m quick; always ready for the unexpected…or rather, for those I expect on the corner.

Unfortunately, this gift of quickness is a necessity for all girls. Walking down the street, even the most unattractive girl will be hounded by guys driving by. When was the last time you saw a group of girls yell out of their peachy cream Chevrolet Impala at some guy telling him that he looks good in those jeans?

Once I was waiting for the H4 on Columbia Road and a truck stopped, full of nasty middle aged construction workers trying to talk to me. They would not stop hounding me so eventually I looked over to a guy standing next to me and said, "Why aren’t you doing anything - what kind of boyfriend are you?" He looked at me like I was crazy. I reached over and hugged him and said "It’s OK baby, I understand that it can be tough watching me deal with ignorant guys." The guys in the truck looked baffled, but quickly drove away.

Quickness is essential. Just because guys will be guys, doesn’t mean girls have to be just as predictable.
