The gun should not be blamed for violence.
A gun is nothing but a tool. Put into the right hands it can save lives, but put into the wrong hands, well, it can prove the saying, “it’s not guns that kill people, it’s the stupid people who hold them that do.” In D.C. there is a lot of gun violence. The latest shooting in my Mount Pleasant neighborhood was a drive by. One person was killed and a bus driver was shot because of a stray bullet. Someone aimed that gun and as a result, innocent people suffered.
People want to ban guns, but that isn’t the solution. The government needs to find a way to protect innocent people but banning guns isn’t the way because responsible people need to protect themselves too. A gun has to be purchased, loaded, then picked up, pointed, and the trigger has to be pulled; so to blame the gun would be distorting the truth.
