Rihanna's Christmas Shopping was Chaos

Rihanna’s Christmas shopping caused a ruckus at Los Angeles’s Grove. The hottest young pop artist tried her hardest to be undercover, but it was not enough. Rihanna was wearing a hood over her hair and big sunglasses when she was spotted at Nordstrom and the Nike store. Once shoppers realized that Rihanna was among them, they started following her as she shopped.

“Her other shopping scene was not as relaxed. Nike store officials had to close the store down when Rihanna entered and uniformed guards kept shoppers from entering the store. A crowd of 100 shoppers waited in the hope of a Rihanna appearance post-Nike shopping. It was not to be, she and her pal snuck out the back door.”

(via PopEater)

Previously:

Rihanna Finally Talks

Rihanna's Comeback

Chris Brown And Rihanna's Re-Enactment & Reaction

Crying for the Stars

It’s been a little more than a week and fans still are crying over the passing of Michael Jackson or MJ as he's known to many. His star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame is littered with signs of affection and remembrance. With the memorial service this morning in Los Angeles (don't even get me started on why the city is ready to provide police support for the event when there are so many other things that need funding) MJ's adoring fans have had yet another opportunity to express their grief. I don’t understand why people cry so much even if they didn’t know him. Everyone knows that that he was a fine singer with groovy dance moves. But it's not like they knew him personally or he knew them by name.

I am not a fan of Michael Jackson, so maybe that’s the reason I think this way. But, don't get me wrong: I think its okay to remember the dead. No matter what happens we should always remember them; they will always be a part of us. And now that I think of it, I remember that when my favorite singer Selena died, it felt like my musical life was over. To me, no one sang as well as she did. Her lyrics were unique. So I guess I understand why MJ's fans are reacting so intensely to his death. Maybe all those fans out there feel as if they have lost a piece of music that can never be replaced.

But, I still think that famous artists like MJ and Selena don't need to have such costly, over-the-top memorial services. The music they create touches us whether the song has to do with love, breakups, or just understanding something as simple as a flower. In a way we should honor the messages they leave through their music. So I think the media should respect Michael Jackson's memory and let him be. After all, his famous song says, "Just Leave Me Alone."

Sex Tapes Vs. Sexting

By M. Drexler

Most everyone has heard of the infamous sex tape scandals that are seen in the media. They often involve not so well known stars that supposedly have no idea how the tapes were leaked. But next thing you know these celebrities are getting rewarded with talk show interviews, posing on magazine covers, and the most common sex tape scandal follow up: a reality show. We all know that celebrities act as role models for youth, so it shouldn’t be a surprise when teenagers act in similar ways by sending their significant others nude pics via text message. This is a phenomenon known as “sexting”. However these young people are not being rewarded with their own T.V. show but instead with charges being pressed against them. These minors are being charged as sex offenders, a life-long title, because they are supposedly creating and publishing child pornography.
How are these minors supposed to know that there are consequences for their “sexting” when their celebrity idols get rewarded with popularity and fame? Paris Hilton is now a household name because everyone knew of her sex tape. Kim Kardashian got her own show and is now one of the most popular celebrites out there. NONE of these sex tape scandal victims have been punished for their mistakes and experimentation, so why should a teenager? Especially when they only learned it from these STARS. It seems as though minors are always getting blamed and punished for their mistakes when they only make them so they can learn and grow. Adults should understand this and not punish them for it, especially with severe charges like being a sex offender. These celebrities are the ones who should be punished for their irresponsible actions. I mean, they’re grown! Why are their mistakes seen as opportunities for more FAME and publicity when the mistakes of these teenagers are seen as crimes? There is no room in society for teenagers to grow and learn from their mistakes without having to face severe consequences. This is only going to result in more negative behavior, and probably much worse than the act of ”sexting”.
